Air Conditioning is another major part of Fagnan’s Furnace, from the installation of the new state of the art R-410a systems, to the servicing and cleaning of the old R-22 Freon systems.
Your new Air Conditioner system is only one call away...
In Canada, under the Energy Efficiency Regulations, the minimum standard for air conditioning was raised to 13 SEER in January 2006. SEER stands for “seasonal efficiency energy rating”, the higher the SEER rating, the more energy efficient-meaning you’ll save money.
Many people pass on air conditioning in Calgary because of our moderate summers, or they consider it to be unnecessary. Our experience with air conditioning is that once you have it in your home, you’ll likely never consider another home without air conditioning. It keeps your home cool during those extremely hot days, and during those hot nights when you can’t fall asleep. Opening windows is a poor solution to the summer heat, and it also allows dust and dirt to get into your home.
Fagnan’s Furnace has been using many different brands of products over the last 44 years, and we recommend Carrier as our top brand because of the success we’ve had with their equipment. Carrier's products and support in Calgary has made it easy for us to deal with them since 1981!
Carrier’s products range from 13 SEER to 21 SEER, but in Calgary we recommend to not go with anything larger then a 16 SEER. Anything larger then a 16 SEER can get expensive and for the amount of time you run air conditioning in Calgary (usually 5-6 months) you will not get your money back for a long time from energy savings.
The majority of homeowners, maybe including you, always ask for an air conditioning with "Puron" refrigerant. Puron is actually Carrier's name for the refrigerant R-410a, so you have already made the decision to go with a Carrier product and maybe you didn’t even know.
The refrigerant R-410a is the newest type of refrigerant that is being used to replace the old R-22 refrigerant, which is found in many current air conditioners. We do not recommend that you purchase an R-22 unit because they are being phased out soon, and R-22 will be hard to find if you ever need servicing. The refrigerant R-410a is environmentally friendly, and makes the air conditioners quieter.
All of Carrier's air conditioners carry the ENERGY STAR standard.
