What Are Air Cleaners And What Do They Do?

Air cleaners can effectively remove particles such as mold, bacteria, viruses, and allergens like pet dander, pollen and dust. There is a variety of air cleaners that you can select from to stop airborne particles, as small as 0.01 microns, from pass thru your furnace. Air particles as small as 0.01 microns are 18,000 times smaller than a pin head!

Air Cleaners are rated on a MERV scale (Minimal Efficiency Reporting Value) and typically range from MERV 4 (which is a standard 1” filter), to MERV 20 (which is a clean room). A surgery room is rated at a MERV 16, and Carrier’s Air Purifier is rated at a MERV 15.
Not all air filters are created equal, and some can even restrict air flow through your ducting and cause stress on your furnace blower. That’s why it’s important to contact Fagnan’s and speak with us about your specific requirements before selecting the proper air cleaner for your home.
